Since I spent friday evening on my couch watching Downton Abbey and eating girl scout cookies, I was rested enough to get up at the butt crack of dawn Saturday to get in a little run (with a little help from Pandora Britney). When I was sufficiently sweaty, I headed over to the sa-lon with sissy to get a little help taming the mane.
That afternoon we tried to keep Sy occupied with his brand new octopus on a stick toy. However, the benevolent dictator was simply not satisfied, and would pull ‘Dinghy’ out of his toy box and drop it at our feet, demanding that we submit to his adorableness. A found dinghy on my pillow this morning, where Sy not to subtly left him, hoping that someone, anyone would just…pick…up…the…stick.
Saturday evening A took me on a surprise date to Big Jones, an upscale Southern joint that had wonderful cornbread and alligator and andouille Sauce Piquante (stew). It was no Barbara Jeans (a Saint Simons Island family favorite) but it was delicious nonetheless. We will have to go back to try their friend chicken and sweet tea.
Sunday morning we had brunch at Cinnamon Cafe, where I was introduced to, quite appropriately, cinnamon coffee. Why hadn’t I thought of that sooner?! Cinnamon + half/half + coffee, tastes quite like when you finish off the milk at the bottom of a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch with a swig of coffee. Delicious.
We also went for a long walk around that neighborhood to enjoy the beautiful sunny 45-degrees-in-February day. Keep em coming mother nature, and winter will be over before we know it. amen.
