This sunny weekend started off with a trip to City Provisions, to fill our tanks before heading out to the Garfield Park Conservatory, one of the most beautiful spots in Chicago. The video we took while there just does.not.do.justice to the beauty of the place, looking very much like what I imagine ‘the Future’ to look like…rainforests growing in giant glass houses, in the middle of sprawling urban centers. After a considerable amount of oohing and ahhing, we headed out.
I headed back to my parents house to celebrate parental birthday Round II (dad edition), and get ready for some Easter funtimes. We started out at the office, to pick up a copy of the New York Times, which featured one of K’s drawings, got some bagels, and returned to eat and begin our long standing Easter traditions (30+ years and counting…and yes, we still hunt for Easter eggs!)
After an epic hunt for plastic eggs outside, and scavenging for our easter baskets inside, we loaded up on chocolate and jelly beans, and went back outside to enjoy the rest of the lazy Sunday with yard games and fruit punch. After dinner, we lit up the sacrificial smoked lamb cake, and sang a round of happy birthday for my dear
old dad, then it was back to the city.
Love you dad!
